EMORY JOHNS CREEK OPENS CARDIAC CATH LABFebruary 10, 2008 Emory Johns Creek Hospital has opened its Cardiac Cath Lab after several months of construction. Formerly, the lab was off site and had the distinction of being the only standalone lab in the state. The move to the hospital campus completes the hospitals diagnostic capabilities for heart and vascular conditions. Having our Cardiac Cath Lab as part of the hospital is a big benefit to our patients and physicians, said John Quinlivan, CEO. The Cath Lab is a crown jewel of our Heart and Vascular Institute and gives us the tools to provide cutting edge, minimally invasive diagnostic procedures. Under the medical direction of Greg Robertson, MD, a world renowned leader, teacher and innovator in minimally invasive vascular procedures, the EJCH Cardiac Cath Lab serves the areas cardiologists, interventionalists and vascular medicine specialists. Area physicians are now able to offer their patients world class diagnostic and interventional technology without having to drive downtown, said Robertson. We feature the most technologically advanced equipment to allow maximum safety and accuracy for cardiac diagnostic procedures and complex vascular internventional procedures. This minimizes traditional open surgical procedures, he added. Patients prefer the convenience of staying close to home while still having access to high quality cardiac and vascular care. Not all centers have the latest cardiovascular imaging modalities maximizing safety and accuracy in making patient recommendations, according to Robertson. Emory Johns Creek is leading the way for doctors to treat their patients locally in cardiovascular care, he added. Our goal at EJCH is to continue exponential growth to become the patients and physicians choice in receiving optimal cardiac and vascular care. Traditional surgery is needed less and less and we will be a leader in Georgia in practicing this modern approach. One feature of the equipment is ability to yield superior images and manipulate those images with 3D technology while decreasing the radiation and procedure time for our patients, said Kathi Langlois, RN, Director of the EJCH Cardiac Cath Lab. It is often stressful for patients to wait for results from any procedure. We can generate results immediately, with instant reporting, eliminating the time between procedure and results, said Langlois. In addition to offering the highest technology to our patients, its important to us that we do all we can to minimize their anxiety levels, said Langlois. Anyone who has had a medical procedure done and had to wait for the results knows how stressful that can be, she added. The Cardiac Cath Lab team is comprised of highly trained and specialized clinicians who are very experienced in invasive cardiovascular procedures. Emory Johns Creek Hospital, located in the heart of Johns Creek, is known for its state-of-the-art technology in a luxurious, hotel-like setting. Services include emergency care, state-of-the-art all digital imaging including a 64 slice CT, MRI, The Birth Place with Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, 24-hour anesthesiologists, intensive care, advanced cardiac care, cardiac cath lab, vascular medicine and surgery, rehabilitation services and womens services.
